Rana Saniei

PhD Student

Rana Saniei is a PhD Student in the e-UCM research group at the Complutense University of Madrid. She received her Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence in 2016 and her Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering in 2013, both from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, Iran.

She began her career as a software engineer on Lernito, a national-scale educational platform for teachers and students in Iran. After moving to Spain, she worked as a researcher on the European Horizon 2020 PROTECT project at the Polytechnic University of Madrid from 2020 to 2022. Her research focused on the design of privacy-enhancing technologies to support GDPR compliance in companies.

She has also gained professional experience as a computer science and full-stack web development mentor, working with multiple private-sector companies. Her current research focuses on serious games for online data privacy education for students, as well as compliance-assistance tools for supporting privacy and regulatory compliance in serious game validation.
