From the Telefónica-Complutense Chair of Digital Education and Serious Games we have launched the following initiative on:
Games developed by women, with the aim of addressing the problem of low participation and lower visibility of women in the field of video games. In addition, from this group composed of a project manager, two programmers and a graphic designer, an exploratory work is being done creating prototypes of educational games that can be used in schools to raise awareness and educate in equality, improving the perception of different aspects related to girls.
Specifically, it is intended to address aspects such as: “love is not control”, scientific vocations in women and women’s participation in sports. The idea is that these aspects included in an educational video game can be tested at school by teachers to spark a conversation with students, once everyone has played in the role of a girl so that even boys have a first-person experience of what this can mean.
At the moment, we are at an early stage of developing the story and an initial prototype of the first part about “love is not control” and women in tech.
The project team is currently formed by:
- Team leader: Cristina Alonso
- Developers: Celia Castaños and Nuria Bango
- Graphic designer: Laura M Provencio
- Scientific Director: Baltasar Fernández
